Let’s get started. In less than 15 minutes you’ll start to
efficiently monitor your Search Engine Ranking Position
Environment setup:
- We recommend that you use the Google Chrome browser to navigate the web.
- Access to your Google Search Console / Google Sheet
- Optional: an SEO Buddy or SERProbot account.
Find all your ranking Keywords using Google Search Console
- Go to the Google Search Console page.
- Click on “Start now”.
- Sign in with the Google Account associated with the GSC Account of your Domain.
- Make sure that you set the property which you want to check (upper left corner).
- Choose “Performance” from the left side menu.
- Here you can find all the Queries for which our domain ranks, as well as the number of “Clicks” for each keyword. As you can see, we have a total of 844 results here.
In the next part of this SOP, we will show you a more efficient way to generate reports from this.
Generate a report using a free Google Sheets Add-on
- Go to http://sheets.google.com/
- Sign in with the Google Account associated with the GSC Account of your Domain.
- Click “+” to create a new spreadsheet.
- Then from the upper menu choose “Add-ons”, then “Get add-ons”.
- The Marketplace will open. Now you need to search for the desired add-on
- We are looking for the “Search Analytics for Sheets” add-on.
- Once you will find it, click on it.
- Then press “Install”.
- You need to “Allow” add-on to access your Google data.
- Finally, click on “Done”.
- Back the blank Google Spreadsheet
- Navigate to “Add-ons”, then “Search Analytics for Sheets” and “Open Sidebar”.
- Wait for the add-on to open.
- Now there should be a “Search Analytics for Sheets” sidebar on the right side:
- Start selecting a “Verified Site” associated with your Google Search Console account
- Set a desired “Date Range”.
- Make sure that “Search Type” is set to: “Default (Web)”.
- Choose “Page” and “Query” in the “Group By:” module:
- Make sure that “Aggregation Type:” is set to “Default (auto)”.
- Choose the value for “Rows returned:”. Use “Everything” only in case your site is relatively new. Otherwise, we recommend you select “1000 rows” here for accurate yet not overwhelmingly long results.
- Select “Create New Sheet” for “Results Sheet:”. It will help in the following steps.
- Once everything is set, click on “Request Data”.
- You will see a confirmation message:
- And your results will be added to your spreadsheet.
- Select one of the cells on the data table.
- Then press “Ctrl + A” on the keyboard in order to select all of the data.
- Now click on “Data”.
- Then press on “Pivot table”.
- Make sure that “New sheet” is selected and press on “Create”.
- Now a pivot table will appear in the new sheet. Click on “Rows”.
- “Pivot table editor” will open on the right side of the spreadsheet.
- Click on “Add” next to the “Rows” category.
- Choose “Page” from the drop-down list.
- Click on “Add” again and this time choose “Query”.
- Repeat this one more time and add “Clicks”.
- You just added: “Page”, “Query” and “Clicks” to your pivot table.
- Deselect “Show totals” for each one of your selections for a cleaner look.
- The result is a report showing all your ranking keywords for each of your landing pages
Now that you have determined which keywords you are already ranking for,
you are ready to move to the next part of this SOP
Track your Keyword for free using SERProbot
- Go to serprobot.com.
- Click on “Free SERP check”.
- Choose your region (or the region you want to check your keyword ranking).
- Enter your domain name.
- Enter keywords you want to check.
- Once you set everything up, check the “I’m not a robot” box and solve the reCAPTCHA.
- Then click on “Check SERP Now!”.
- Wait for the checking process to end…
- …and you will be able to see the result at the top of the page.
- You can compare your keyword with “TOP TEN” by clicking on it.
- Click on “RUN SEARCH” …
- …and you will be redirected to Google Search results for your keyword with some additional data.
Track your Keyword using SERProbot (Paid Version)
- Go to serprobot.com.
- Click on “Sign up”.
- Fill in the registry form with your “Email” (1). Come up with a “Password” (2) and confirm it (3). Finally, solve the reCAPTCHA to confirm that you are not a robot.
- Click on “Create Account”.
- Make sure that you check your mailbox and confirm your email for SerpRobot.
- After creating your account, you will be granted with free 14 days of access. After that, if you want to continue using the SerpRobot tool, you will have to choose a payment method by clicking on the “Hire a paid SERP bot!”.
- After confirming your email, click on “+ New project”.
- Start with naming your project and entering your domain name.
- Fill in the keywords you want to check. By clicking on “+ add another keyword” you will create another box for more keywords.
- Choose the desired region.
- Once everything is set up, click on “Add project”.
- Click on your newly added project on your account main page.
- And there you have your ranking results for selected keywords.
Set Up Keyword Rank Tracking with SEOBuddy (Paid Option)
- Go to seobuddy.com.
- Click on “Sign in” and log in.
- After signing in, enter your dashboard by clicking on “Dashboard”.
- Choose “Keywords” from the left side menu.
- Click on “+” in the upper right corner to add new keywords.
- Type in the desired keyword or more of them into the box and click on “Add Keyword(s)”.
- The newly added keyword will be displayed in your keyword list…
- …with all the ranking data, you need right next to it.
That’s it! Now you have BOT monitoring daily your Search Engine Ranking Position!
You can finally measure the success of your SEO Strategy for each of your keywords.
