Letβs get started. In less than 15 minutes youβll start to
efficiently monitor your Search Engine Ranking Position
Environment setup:
- We recommend that you use the Google Chrome browser to navigate the web.
- Access to your Google Search Console / Google Sheet
- Optional: an SEO Buddy or SERProbot account.
Find all your ranking Keywords using Google Search Console
- Go to the Google Search Console page.
- Click on βStart nowβ.
- Sign in with the Google Account associated with the GSC Account of your Domain.
- Make sure that you set the property which you want to check (upper left corner).
- Choose βPerformanceβ from the left side menu.
- Here you can find all the Queries for which our domain ranks, as well as the number of βClicksβ for each keyword. As you can see, we have a total of 844 results here.
In the next part of this SOP, we will show you a more efficient way to generate reports from this.
Generate a report using a free Google Sheets Add-on
- Go to http://sheets.google.com/
- Sign in with the Google Account associated with the GSC Account of your Domain.
- Click β+β to create a new spreadsheet.
- Then from the upper menu choose βAdd-onsβ, then βGet add-onsβ.
- The Marketplace will open. Now you need to search for the desired add-on
- We are looking for the βSearch Analytics for Sheetsβ add-on.
- Once you will find it, click on it.
- Then press βInstallβ.
- You need to βAllowβ add-on to access your Google data.
- Finally, click on βDoneβ.
- Back the blank Google Spreadsheet
- Navigate to βAdd-onsβ, then βSearch Analytics for Sheetsβ and βOpen Sidebarβ.
- Wait for the add-on to open.
- Now there should be a βSearch Analytics for Sheetsβ sidebar on the right side:
- Start selecting a βVerified Siteβ associated with your Google Search Console account
- Set a desired βDate Rangeβ.
- Make sure that βSearch Typeβ is set to: βDefault (Web)β.
- Choose βPageβ and βQueryβ in the βGroup By:β module:
- Make sure that βAggregation Type:β is set to βDefault (auto)β.
- Choose the value for βRows returned:β. Use βEverythingβ only in case your site is relatively new. Otherwise, we recommend you select β1000 rowsβ here for accurate yet not overwhelmingly long results.
- Select βCreate New Sheetβ for βResults Sheet:β. It will help in the following steps.
- Once everything is set, click on βRequest Dataβ.
- You will see a confirmation message:
- And your results will be added to your spreadsheet.
- Select one of the cells on the data table.
- Then press βCtrl + Aβ on the keyboard in order to select all of the data.
- Now click on βDataβ.
- Then press on βPivot tableβ.
- Make sure that βNew sheetβ is selected and press on βCreateβ.
- Now a pivot table will appear in the new sheet. Click on βRowsβ.
- βPivot table editorβ will open on the right side of the spreadsheet.
- Click on βAddβ next to the βRowsβ category.
- Choose βPageβ from the drop-down list.
- Click on βAddβ again and this time choose βQueryβ.
- Repeat this one more time and add βClicksβ.
- You just added: βPageβ, βQueryβ and βClicksβ to your pivot table.
- Deselect βShow totalsβ for each one of your selections for a cleaner look.
- The result is a report showing all your ranking keywords for each of your landing pages
Now that you have determined which keywords you are already ranking for,
you are ready to move to the next part of this SOP
Track your Keyword for free using SERProbot
- Go to serprobot.com.
- Click on βFree SERP checkβ.
- Choose your region (or the region you want to check your keyword ranking).
- Enter your domain name.
- Enter keywords you want to check.
- Once you set everything up, check the βIβm not a robotβ box and solve the reCAPTCHA.
- Then click on βCheck SERP Now!β.
- Wait for the checking process to endβ¦
- …and you will be able to see the result at the top of the page.
- You can compare your keyword with βTOP TENβ by clicking on it.
- Click on βRUN SEARCHβ …
- …and you will be redirected to Google Search results for your keyword with some additional data.
Track your Keyword using SERProbot (Paid Version)
- Go to serprobot.com.
- Click on βSign upβ.
- Fill in the registry form with your βEmailβ (1). Come up with a βPasswordβ (2) and confirm it (3). Finally, solve the reCAPTCHA to confirm that you are not a robot.
- Click on βCreate Accountβ.
- Make sure that you check your mailbox and confirm your email for SerpRobot.
- After creating your account, you will be granted with free 14 days of access. After that, if you want to continue using the SerpRobot tool, you will have to choose a payment method by clicking on the βHire a paid SERP bot!β.
- After confirming your email, click on β+ New projectβ.
- Start with naming your project and entering your domain name.
- Fill in the keywords you want to check. By clicking on β+ add another keywordβ you will create another box for more keywords.
- Choose the desired region.
- Once everything is set up, click on βAdd projectβ.
- Click on your newly added project on your account main page.
- And there you have your ranking results for selected keywords.
Set Up Keyword Rank Tracking with SEOBuddy (Paid Option)
- Go to seobuddy.com.
- Click on βSign inβ and log in.
- After signing in, enter your dashboard by clicking on βDashboardβ.
- Choose βKeywordsβ from the left side menu.
- Click on β+β in the upper right corner to add new keywords.
- Type in the desired keyword or more of them into the box and click on βAdd Keyword(s)β.
- The newly added keyword will be displayed in your keyword list…
- …with all the ranking data, you need right next to it.
