Letβs get started. In 5 minutes, you will be able to gather all of your
Google Search Console data in Google Analytics.
If you set up your Google Analytics in 2021 you are likely using Google Analytics 4 (GA4) – this version doesnβt allow you to gather data from Google Search Console. Thankfully, there is a workaround β you can add a Universal Analytics property to the account. Move to THIS POST to check how to do it and then back to this part.
Link Google Search Console to Google Analytics.
Checking if Google Search Console is linked to Google Analytics
- Go to your Google Analytics account.
Make sure you log in with Google Account associated with Google Analytics Account you want to link with Google Search Console.
- Choose your βMain Viewβ or βAll Website Dataβ
- Click on βAcquisitionβ.
- Then choose βLanding Pagesβ under βSearch Consoleβ.
- If you find a message like the one below, then you need to move to the next step. If you donβt see this page then skip to the last chapter of this SOP.
Linking Google Search Console
- In your Google Analytics Account click on βAdminβ.
- Then in your βPropertyβ tab click on βProperty Settingsβ.
- Click on βAdjust Search Consoleβ at the bottom of the page.
- Click on βAddβ.
- Select the website you want to link with your Google Analytics.
- Press βSaveβ.
- Click βOKβ in the pop-up window.
- You will be redirected to your Google Search Console tool.
- Go back to your Google Analytics account and click on βDoneβ.
After linking your Google Search Console to Google Analytics, you will receive a confirmation email from Google Search Console Team.
Checking your website data in Google Analytics
- Go to your Google Analytics account.
- Choose your βMain Viewβ (or βAll Website Dataβ)
- On the left side menu click on βAcquisitionβ β βSearch Consoleβ β βLanding Pagesβ.
- Now you should be able to see Google Search Console data reports.
Creating Google Analytics – Universal Analytics property
- Once logged in to your Google Analytics account, click on βCreate Propertyβ.
- Click on βShow advanced optionsβ.
- Name your property(1), set reporting time zone and currency(2), choose to create a Universal Analytics property(3), enter your website URL(4) and check βCreate a Universal Analytics property onlyβ(5), then click on βNextβ.
- Select your Industry category(1), set your business size(2), choose how you intend to use Google Analytics(3) and click on βCreateβ.
- Now click on your Google Analytics Account.
- Now you will be able to choose your Universal Analytics property(2) needed to acquire Google Search Console data. Your Google Analytics 4 property(1) can be easily recognized by the lack of the βUA-β prefix in its description.
- Select your Universal Analytics property and you can proceed with linking your Google Search Console to it.
Your Google Search Console data can now be reviewed in Google Analytics.
