Environment setup:
- We recommend that you use the Google Chrome browser to navigate the web,
- Administrator Access to your WordPress Blog,
- A Google Account (Gmail, G-Suite).
What is Google Analytics?
Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and measures website traffic and allows you to visualize reports in a very legible way.
Create a Google Analytics Account
- First, go to the Google Analytics website.
- You should sign in with your Google Account or create one
- Click on βSet up for freeβ and on the next page, you will start creating your account.
- Start by creating your βProperty Nameβ(1), choosing βReporting time zoneβ(2) and βCurrencyβ(3), then click on βNextβ.
- Select the βIndustry categoryβ of your business.
- Set your βBusiness sizeβ and select βHow do you intend to use Google Analytics with your businessβ.
- Press βCreateβ.
- Accept all the required Google agreements.
- Choose βWebβ.
- Enter your website URL (1), name your stream name (2), then click on βCreate streamβ.
Check if you should choose HTTP:// or HTTPS://
Enter your website URL in your internet browser, then click just on the left side of the URL Address Bar and check if it is secured or not. In some cases, there will be a red padlock (not secure) or a green one (secure).
If it is secured choose https:// if not – http://

- Now you should see your Google Analytics βAdminβ Area. Here you can see your Google Analytics βMeasurement IDβ(1). There is also a tracking code(2) that you will use to collect data from your website.
Set Up Google Analytics using WordPress Plug-In
Installing βHeader Footer Code Managerβ Plug-In
- Log in to your WordPress Admin Area:
(Eg: yourblogdomain.com/wp-admin or yourblogdomain.com/wp-login.php)
- On the left side menu, click on βPluginsβ and then βAdd Newβ.
- In the search engine at the upper right side of the page search for: βheader footer code managerβ.
- You should now find the plug-in below by 99robots, once you find it, click βInstall Nowβ.
- Wait while it is installed.
- And then click on βActivateβ.
- Now you should see βHFCMβ appear on your Menu. Click on it.
- Now press on βAdd Newβ.
- Now name the New Snippet (for example βGoogle Analyticsβ) (1), and then set βLocationβ to βHeaderβ (2). Then leave this tab open while you get the Google Analytics code in another tab.
- Now go back to your Google Analytics βAdminβ Panel
(Open it in a new tab of the Internet browser) and click on βData Streamsβ.
- Expand the βGlobal site tagβ area.
- There you should see your Google Analytics Tracking Code.
- Simply Copy It.
- Then go back to the βAdd New Snippetβ window and paste the code at the bottom.
- Click on βSaveβ.
- Again, click on βHFCMβ on your WordPress Menu.
- Here you can see all of your Snippets. You should see that the Snippet you just added is turned ON (if not click on the βON/OFFβ slider).
Check if Google Analytics is running correctly
- First, go to your website and leave it open in one tab of your browser.
- In another tab open the Google Analytics website.
- In Google Analytics go to βReportsβ.
- If everything is set right, you should see at least one active user right now (it is you)

and now you can track and measure traffic from your website!
