Environment setup:
- We recommend that you use Google Chrome browser to navigate the web.
- Access to your WordPress admin panel.
Installing the ManageWP Worker Plugin
- Log in to your WordPress Admin Panel.
- Click on βPluginsβ on the left side menu.
- Choose βAdd Newβ.
- Type βmanagewpβ in the search box at the upper right corner.
- You should find βManageWP Workerβ Plugin in the search results. Click βInstall Nowβ to install it.
- Wait for the plugin to install.
- After that click on βActivateβ.
Updating your technology using ManageWP
Creating a ManageWP account
- Go to managewp.com.
- Click on βSign up freeβ.
- Start with filling in with your email address and press on βSign upβ (remember to check the box next to the βTerms of Serviceβ and βPrivacy Policyβ).
- Type in your name and press on βNextβ.
- Enter your last name, then press on βNextβ.
- Then enter your website URL and click on βAdd websiteβ.
- Now you have to confirm that you own your website. You can fill in with your website credentials or click on βUse connection key insteadβ.
- If you choose to use a connection key, you should enter it in the box.
Getting your connection key
- Go back to your WordPress Admin Panel.
- Choose βInstalled Pluginsβ under the βPluginsβ section.
- Find your βManageWP Workerβ Plugin and click on βConnection Managementβ.
- There you will find your βConnection keyβ. Copy it by clicking on βCopyβ and go back to ManageWP website.
- Paste your βConnection keyβ and click on βAdd websiteβ.
- Wait a couple of seconds until a connection is established.
- After that click on βGo to website dashboardβ.
- In the Dashboard you will see a list of all of your themes, plugins and extensions installed on your website. Click βUpdate allβ.
You can choose to update only selected items by choosing them with boxes next to them but we highly recommend you to keep all up to date.
- No matter if you choose to βUpdate allβ or just chosen ones you will be presented with the βConfirm Updateβ window. Here you will see a summary of what will be updated. Click on βUpdateβ.
- The updating process can take some time.
- When all will be up to date, you will be presented with the βEverything is up to dateβ message.
You can confirm your ManageWP account while waiting for the update to end. It is important to confirm your account so you will be able to log in to your account in the future.
Confirming your ManageWP account.
- Go to your email account.
- You will find a new email from ManageWP.
- Open it and click on βConfirm signupβ.
- You will be redirected to the βReset Passwordβ window. Enter your email address and press on βResetβ.
- You will receive another email from ManageWP. Open it.
- Click on βReset passwordβ.
- Come up with a password and click on βChange passwordβ.
This is it! Now you know how to keep all of your technology up to date. Remember that you should regularly check if there is a new update to perform.
